Chile-Palestine Mental Health Network
The Chile-Palestine Mental Health Network is an organization composed of mental health professionals, academics, and activists dedicated to promoting awareness, solidarity, and advocacy for the mental health and human rights of the Palestinian people. We firmly oppose all forms of occupation, apartheid, and colonial violence, recognizing the profound psychological impact these injustices have on individuals and communities.
On September 9, at the San Carlos de Apoquindo Event Center in Santiago, Chile, an American psychologist named Tal Ben Shahar, born in Occupied Historic Palestine, who addresses topics such as "Happiness," is scheduled to deliver his lectures.
He has also participated in short films aimed at indoctrinating children and normalizing the Zionist occupation of Palestine. One example is a documentary titled "Israel Inside," which "explores the fundamental strengths of the 'Israeli character' that allow the country to thrive in the face of incredible adversity. Through the story of former Harvard professor Dr. Tal Ben Shahar, the film reveals how, despite various challenges, Israeli creativity and innovation drive Israeli society, while simultaneously contributing to a better world."
In other words, he presents a sugar-coated worldview where he distorts reality by referring to an "Israeli character," an "Israeli society," and most disturbingly, claims that they "contribute to a better world!"
Given this chronic Zionist behavior of normalizing and whitewashing the destructive and criminal nature of Zionism throughout history, we, the undersigned, reject his presence in Chile for this absurd event. We reject the presence of a psychologist who is complicit in the Holocaust against the Semitic Palestinian People, which has been occurring since 1948, with the implantation of an artificial entity on ancestral Semitic Palestinian land.
